We are excited to share a recent Council on Aging – Southern California announcement. Every year since 1995, the Pacific Life Foundation has recognized an outstanding nonprofit agency with the Walter B. Gerken Community Service Award at their annual Grants Reception. Last week the Pacific Life Foundation awarded the Walter B. Gerken Community Service Award to the Council on Aging – Southern California.

The Walter B. Gerken Community Service Award is a commemoration of his spirit, honoring those devoted to the betterment of society. Gerken was the former CEO of Pacific Life and the founding chairman of the Pacific Life Foundation. Every year, the nonprofit recipient of the Walter B. Gerken Award receives a $50,000 unrestricted grant.

We hope this prestigious honor helps shine a light on the importance of seniors in our community and brings greater awareness to the no-cost services and programs we offer to help seniors remain healthy, connected and protected. Aging will continue to impact us all, and we will continue to make an impact in our community.

The Award was received from the Pacific Life Foundation on the evening of January 18th at their annual Grants Reception. Lisa W. Jenkins, President & CEO of the Council on Aging – Southern California graciously accepted the award.

“It is an honor to accept this important award. We are forever grateful for the unwavering support from the Pacific Life Foundation. From the transformational grant that allowed us to expand our Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program that protects vulnerable seniors, to the annual grants that enable us to build more awareness of our no-cost programs and services, the Pacific Life Foundation has stood with us for over 31 years in supporting older adults. Aging impacts us all. Seniors enjoy better lives because of the incredible kindness and generosity of the Pacific Life Foundation.” ~Lisa Wright Jenkins.
